» Orientation: Straight. LMAO Awkward Silence. But no, seriously. Even though she acts more like a guy than a girl, her mind seems totally focused on guys. She does not come out and say “Oh, I’m into guys,” but you can certainly see that she is. Seeing as how she feels that everyone “are dying to talk to a babe like her,” well, it should be plenty obvious.

» Personality: So. She must be a very noble, self-sacrificing girl who will do anything for her home country? A real peach?

Pfffft. Nah. She loves Wutai and would do anything for it. However, Yuffie is not one for being noble. She’s a rebel, and she prides herself on breaking the rules. In fact, she prides herself on a lot of things. Yuffie is also pretty selfish. And self-centered. And brash. And annoying. In fact, from your first glimpse of her (When she is in fact trying to rob Cloud), you won’t be able to tell that she has a very trustworthy side at all. The official game describes her as very greedy and egotistical, and while it isn’t the whole picture of her, it certainly does capture a lot. She is sly and cunning and she’s always has a plan up her sleeve – even when she’s helping you save the world, she is much more worried about how she can best rob you of all your materia. She is not Robin Hood. She just picks her targets at random, since she’s totally willing to rob Cloud’s group of their materia. And then join their group. So she can steal their materia.

The thing you have to remember is that Yuffie is not a villain in any sense of the word. Yeah, sure, she’s all too willing to steal her friends’ materia when their backs are turned, but she would never consider ditching them in a fight. Her stunning egotism and materia stealing aside, Yuffie is very trustworthy in battle or on an adventure. She is very optimistic, always looking on the bright side of things. And with that optimism comes energy, and lots of it. Did I mention that she might get on some people’s nerves? Anyway, Yuffie is also… not one for being rational. If she saw someone robbing a store, she would not call the police or try to get someone to help. She is more into grabbing her shuriken and saying “What the heck are they doing that for they must be up to something LET’S BEAT THEM UP and steal their materia” and run in after them. Yeah. Like any girl with the hyperactivity of a puppy, it would be pretty unusual for her to think before doing. I mean, she did try to pick a fight with Cloud, and then decided to join his group just to get her revenge. Her material stealing revenge. Anyone with any ounce of rationality would have thought that plan through just a little bit, or at the very least see the numerous holes in her logic. But nope. She doesn’t hesitate. In fact she thinks it’s an awesome idea. She even laughs to herself. Nyuk nyuk nyuk. Did I also mention that she might get on your nerves? Cuz she might get on your nerves.

Don’t underestimate her either. She’s one to jump to conclusions and make sudden decisions, but she isn’t an idiot either. You know why she’s so cocky? She’s really a ninja, and she’s a damn good one too. She is sly, cunning and is always looking for ways to screw someone over. However, Yuffie is still very young and pretty naïve, and that reflects pretty well in her personality. She is skilled but she’s got a long way to go before she can call herself “The Great Ninja Yuffie”, and it’s obvious that she is too young to see this. And while I have been beating this drum ragged for the past few paragraphs, many of the characters in Final Fantasy think Yuffie is pretty annoying, but if she seriously knows about this she certainly doesn’t give any indication. So not only is she very young and naïve, things tend to blow right over her head. Normally she’ll downplay the severity of a situation because she simply cannot see the danger. Her interest in the situation is normally directly related to how much materia is in the general vicinity.

Oh yeah. Yuffie is obsessed with materia. Did I forget to mention that? Yeeeep. She loves her some materia. The canon explanation for this is that her hometown of Wutai used to have loads of the stuff and contributed to their power overal. Then Shinra took over and, well, you don’t want a bunch of ninja casting magic orbs on you. Yuffie was collecting materia because she thought that if she found enough, she would be able to bring Wutai back to it’s former glory. That was in FFVII though. In the other games, she’s just as obsessed about materia as before, coming up with other reasons to hunt down the stuff.. I think she has a materia addiction. No, wait, she’s more of a kleptomaniac than anything, with an orientation for materia. So yeah, she likes materia and a canon reason for this is pretty iffy. I like to think that she has a liking for shiny round orbs.

» Appearance: From a far enough distance, you could mistake Yuffie for a boy. For one, she has short brown hair with a very wide callick. The hair is held up with a silver metal headband with a green bandana that is tied to it. She has a very pale complexion with very boyish features, with a little nose, brown eyes and an oval-shaped face. She wears a very… odd selection of clothes. She wears a green turtleneck sweater that is so short that it ends right around her stomach. She also wears a shoulder guard on her left arm that only manages to stay with a collection of belts. In fact, she has an excess of armor on her arms and legs, with flesh-colored fishnets on her arms and legs, gauntlets on both of her arms and metal rods lining down her leg. She has a pair of very baggy khaki shorts, and the top button is always undone. She also sports fingerless gloves, loose socks and bright yellow sneakers.

» Suitability: Despite being extremely brash and overly hyper(and certainly a little childish), Yuffie is very self-reliant. After all, she is perfectly able and willing to go out into the world, camp out in forests and rob random strangers of their precious materia. She seems to get on by herself without any help until she meets up with Cloud’s group, and even when she joins them it’s because of her own ulterior motives. Handling this type of situation? Nothing to it. She can easily adapt, though she certainly will try to rebel against the higher-ups. She won’t just let herself get coerced into a sexual situation

M-My materia. Who could have taken it? I had it! I knew I had it! It was in my pocket!

Could it have been those maids?! Maybe I shouldn’t have yelled at one of them. But that’s no excuse! I’m not apologizing! She walked in while I was changing! What was she expecting me to do, wave and say hi?! UGH! I hate everything! No one walked in on me changing back home! Urk, where is it?! It’s missing! Someone stole my materia! What the hell?!

Gawd. Geeze. It’s bad enough that I’m stuck here. First this crap about collars and gods and crap that I don’t care about, now this! This – I don’t even know what this is! Is this a kidnapping?! Are they blackmailing dad or did they just take me for the thrill of it?! *grumble* This sucks. At least there are trees for me to climb. Everything’s so green out here, and pretty. Totally not polluted. Almost makes up for the, you know, collar thing.

… huh? Hey! HEY YOU! Yeah, YOU! YOU TOOK MY MATERIA DIDN’T YOU?! Don’t act dumb! You know what you did! Who am I? Your worst nightmare, turtle-neck! I’m the White Flower of Wutai, the Defeater of Evil! She doesn’t take kindly to having her things stolen! Now I want an apology from you, pronto! And gimmie back my materia, or else I’ll make you regret it - Hey, where the heck are you going?! Come back and fight like a man! Don’t make me chase you! I’ll do that! I’ll hunt you down!

Geeze. He’s gonna make me chase him huh?

Stupid gold room. Stupid mirror. Stupid collar. Everything was stupid.

Yuffie can certainly understand why someone would want her. After all, she was pretty damn amazing and super sexy. She is the Great Ninja Yuffie, daughter of Godo Kisaragi and the most awesome ninja ever. Who wouldn’t want her – for their cult activities? But to be stuck here with a collar on her neck – well everyone else was calling it a collar, it looked more like her green bandana – doing totally un-ninja like things was just – just – wrong! It was wrong wrong wrong! And stupid. And lame too. And pretty much every other negative adjective she could come up with if she weren’t so focused on the mirror.

She had never realized this but she was pretty kickin’. Her breasts could have been bigger, a little taller but heck, she was hot. Why the hell didn’t she notice this before? She was surprised no boys ever tried to make a pass at her – not that she would ever accept. If someone starting hitting on her, she was afraid she would punch them in the mouth and scream, which is pretty ironic considering the circumstances.

Yuffie tied her headband up. The green bandana was missing – although she perfectly understood this. Now the bandana was around her neck. At least that was one less thing she had to worry about. It took her a few minutes to piece her clothes back together. After what happened though – especially what happened – wearing so much made her feel very dirty for some reason. It was why it took her so long to put them on – that and the fact that a girl in a bathrobe walked in on her changing. Pressing her left arm against her gauntlet just made her realize the faint taste in her mouth. She almost gagged. She felt so dirty… Gawd. She never had dirty dreams, especially ones that made her shiver afterwards.

This place was pretty screwed up, and that’s considering how her world almost collapsed. She really didn’t want to focus on that dream. She wanted to push it out of her mind completely and pretend that it didn’t exist but that proved to be a waste of energy. She could not for the life of her get it out of her head.

Aannnnd then she pocketed the soap and the hand towel because hey, she wasn’t planning on staying long. Screw it. Take everything that isn’t nailed down. It certainly wasn’t materia – but

They were going to kick her out. She had convinced herself that if she didn’t leave now, they were going to throw her out. She had screamed pretty loudly. From what she’s heard from the device – or at least the few entries she listened in on – the maids weren’t too nice at the best of times. It was a given that she overstayed her welcome. Besides, the less time she has to spend with a bunch of chicks in bathrobes acting all not-polite the happier Yuffie would be. If they weren’t going to kick her out, she sure as hell would do something to change that.

And she just realized the pillows weren’t going to fit in her fishnets. Crap. She was sure it would. She puffed her cheeks out.

There wasn’t much in the room to steal, at least nothing she could reliably hide on her person. And no materia. Which sucked, but the kicker was that materia didn’t work here anyway. Stupid rules. She felt weak now. How the heck was she supposed to return Wutai to its former glory if she couldn’t use materia? This was stupid, stupid stupid stupid. ARGH! She hated this!

…. Maybe if she took her clothes back on, she could steal the blanket?

No. No, she had to leave.
